St' Edward

St. Edward's School, colloquially known as "Teddies", is a coeducational boarding and day school catering to approximately 800 students aged 13 to 18 years. The school aim for their pupils to be on the front foot – engaged, asking questions, curious discussions, idea exploration, research, and independent thinking, so teddies place a strong emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning, ensuring that students develop the necessary skills for success in higher education and beyond.

In addition to its strong academic subjects, all pupils joining the school in Year 9 have a choice of two languages from French, German and Spanish, which are examined at GSCE, IGCSE, A Level and IB Diploma. When it comes to academic results, St. Edward's Oxford School consistently achieved impressive test results in 2022, with 83% of all A Level grades at A*-B and 52% at A* or A. For IB, more than 60% of Higher-Level grades were awarded at the 7 or 6 level, and 94% were a level 7-5. At GCSE, almost two-thirds of all grades were positioned at the highest 7-9 level.

Furthermore, teddies pupils regularly take up places at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge to study PPE, Music, Engineering and Medicine. Other top UK universities in recent years have been Bristol, Edinburgh, Durham, Manchester, Newcastle, Exeter and London (King's College, UCL and Imperial).

On the sporting front, there are two astro-turf pitches, all-weather for netball and tennis courts, a sports hall, multiple sports fields and a 6-hole golf course. Students are also able to make wide use of the Health Fitness and Wellbeing Gym, including indoor tennis courts, squash courts, swimming pool, fitness arena, spinning room and exercise studios. St. Edward's has always had a first-class sporting reputation. Many of their teams successfully take part in county and national tournaments and events with a team of highly skilled coaches.

Within the realm of boarding life at St. Edward's Oxford, there are currently 13 boarding houses, five for boys, five for girls and three for co-ed with a mix of around 65 boarding and day pupils. Each boarding house offers a supportive and structured routine, and boarders enjoy access to excellent facilities and resources while benefiting from the guidance of experienced house staff.
